Gratitude and Thankfulness

In a mere couple of days our Jelly Belly gang will make our annual trek to the beach.

The beach filled with family, friends and food. 

Nights end with counting the number of 'sleeps' until we can celebrate "thanksgiving."  Both of the kids don't quite grasp the whole 'thankfulness' piece, but Ms. JB is really beginning to understand that we have so much as a family and as individuals to be thankful for.  It melts my heart.  Buddy JB likes me to tell all the events that are going to take place once we get to Grandma's and LoLo's house and we always end our story with the fact that once all this celebrating is over....we get to set up Grandma and LoLo's Christmas tree!  We have been enjoying the bounties of fall with leaf collecting, fall painting and scrumptious Turkey cookies.

I am truly thankful....

I am thankful for my family

...my faith in God.

...our healthy children.

...my loving husband.

...my job.

...our friends.

...freedoms bestowed upon me as an American.

...my health as it stands.

...and all the other blessings that come with each day.

May every person who stumbles upon this blog find something greater than oneself to be thankful for.

Ballet Theater...Here we come!

Absolute cuteness are the only words that I have to describe these two goof-nuts!  Ms. JB wanted her little brother to be the prince, but all he would settle for were princess clothes.  Guess we need to invest in a prince costume?

Spiderman and Kitty Girl unite!

This year marks a first in which the Jelly Belly parental units actually OBSERVED their children on Halloween rather than FACILITATE their Halloween.  The Halloween advent calender brought us to the 31st day of October with a tantalizing piece of candy corn every day...and as quickly  as it came; Halloween left.

(Spiderman found a house that set up shop outside with a projection screen, heated patio warmers, and Moster's vs. Aliens playing.  It was a pretty funny sight..."your house is my house"...I guess?)

With a determined Spiderman and Kitty cat in tow, we scoured our Funberg neighborhood for candy and loot.  In anticipation of tired bodies and cold grumpy kids we brought the wagon as a back up and wouldn't you know it....not one Jelly Belly roosted in the beast.  Little Spiderman legs scurried alongside our adult strides and Ms. JB led the pack the entire night insisting that God made her walk fast and she just couldn't slow down.  The kids had a great time.  The weather cooperated.  The Aunties marked a visit and stuck around in order to let me woop them all at Mexican Train dominoes.  The night was superb and I can now relish in the great memories as they will continue to carry us through the next twelve months as we wait for Halloween to make its way back here again next year.

Houston? We have a problem!

Absolute denial should be this blog title, absolute denial.  My little 'baby' is NOT a baby anymore...as much as I would like to hold onto this notion, the laws of nature are overriding my bubble paradigm.  For quite sometime, Ms. JB has had this POKING protrusion jetting out from her lower jaw...much like an adult tooth.  Albeit...it is a tooth and it is here to stay.  For fear of the darn thing growing horizontal into her tongue, i have been bugging her to keep wiggling the baby tooth loose.  The baby tooth has NOT been budging whatsoever. 

After rest time I told her the old wives tale of tieing the tooth with a string to the doorknob and counting to three.  (I could and never would do this) I mentioned to her that trying the "apple" technique would be a safe way to go.  "Big apple bites with only your front teeth."  She was immediately thrilled with the idea and eager to try it out.  First bite loosened the tooth and the blood started to puddle.  I only encouraged her to eat more of the apple in order to avoid the whole...blood freak out piece.  After her "side-munching" apple biting, the tooth finally came out.  She was in absolute shock of the whole process and in complete awe of the end result that laid upon her open hand.
